At Bullseye Marketplace, we raise our own longhorns to provide you with the best beef possible.
Our Grass Fed Beef Program is Unique …
We use Texas Longhorns as our primary brood cows. Texas Longhorns have great maternal instincts, incredible calving ease, are very disease resistant, and they often live to 25 years of age. We cross breed them with high quality bulls like Angus, Murrey Grey, and Maine Anjou. The offspring are raised for our grass fed beef program. When crossed with these other strong breeds, we get incredible results from the “Hybrid Vigor” that takes place.
Longhorn beef is exceptionally lean yet fully marbled for tenderness. And because it is so lean, it is a healthy choice—lower in calories, cholesterol, and fat than other meats. Take a look at the table below compiled by the Texas Longhorn Association. Surprise! Eating Longhorn beef is actually healthier for your heart than eating chicken. If your cholesterol is elevated, eating lean beef can help increase your “good” cholesterol while reducing bad cholesterol. Further, beef is the best source of protein, zinc and Vitamin B-12, and packed with iron—all nutrients that contribute greatly to a healthy lifestyle.
We raise our Cattle locally and they are 100% grass fed. Why does that matter? Most commercial beef cows are raised on concrete feed lots and fed a diet primarily of corn. The rumen compartment of a cow’s stomach was not created for corn; it was created for grazing natural forages. Our Cattle are 100% corn free. They are pastured 365 days a year and in the winter are supplemented 100% with hay that we raise on our farms. This locally grown natural diet means that we can offer you this beef without health-risk worries. It often takes us over two years to raise a beef to maturity, whereas the conventional time to market for corn fed beef is about 16 to 18 months. We’re in no hurry, because we know that their slower growth means we can offer you much higher quality beef.
